I met up with three other girls from my home university in the States in Munich! I was the first to arrive and I was surprised by how easy it was to navigate the U-Bahn. When I got to the Airbnb I decided to go to a cafe and explore the city. This was also the first time I was surrounded by people I honestly had no clue what they were saying to me (in all of the other places I've traveled to my limited Spanish skills could still get me by). It was humbling and quite fun to listen to!
Once the other girls arrived we went to Marienplatz and got some maroni (roasted chestnuts), gluhwein (mulled wine), pretzels, and of course bier. We went and got the infamous Hofbrauhaus and Augustiner biers straight from the source, which is a must when in Munich! There were also a lot of little markets and the Christmas markets were in construction was exciting to see!
Another must while in Munich is Cafe Frishhut, a local favorite. They are famous for the pastry, Schmalznudel, which I have to say was buttery and delicious!
Honestly though, the main reason we wanted to meet in Munich is because we wanted to see Flume in concert. It was actually an amazing show and now I can say I've gone to a concert in a different country!
